A Bit of Raw Info

Raw Food Diet: A diet based on unprocessed and uncooked plant foods, such as fresh fruit and vegetables, sprouts, seeds, nuts, grains, beans, nuts, dried fruit, and seaweed.

When foods are heated above 116 degrees F it is believed that the enzymes in food are destroyed. These enzymes are needed to assist in the digestion and absorption of food. Cooking is also thought to diminish the nutritional value and "life force" of food.

Proponents of the raw food diet believe it has numerous health benefits, including:

  • Increased energy
  • Improved skin appearance
  • Better digestion
  • Weight loss
  • Reduced risk of heart disease

In the raw foods diet most all of the foods are made from scratch. Many ingredients may be new to you, such as Rejuvelac, sprouted flour, date sugar, young coconut milk, carob powder and Celtic sea salt. Most people who follow the raw foods diet will eat 75% of their foods raw. Just incorporating more raw ingredients into ones diet can have tremendous health benefits.
